What We Learned At The 2007 AMO Nationals by Scott A. Carpenter

Aurora, CO is so beautiful that everywhere we looked was picture post card.

Aurora, CO has big spiders that can jump on you from several feet away (see photo).

Regular tap water in Aurora, CO tasted better than ANY filtered or bottled water we've ever had.

The air is much thinner making it harder to breathe during strenuous activity.

Racers run approximately 1-second slower at their drag strip than they would in Dallas due to the altitude.

Bringing a fully charged original and spare camera battery doesn't help if you forget your battery charger and your camera uses a proprietary charger that NO ONE carries.  Don't forget your battery charger but if you do, Walgreens, CVS, Target and Walmart have disposable one-time use cameras with 24-hour turnaround CD's available.

Sun screen, lip balm, a hat, comfortable shoes, blister shield and lots of water are a must!

Book your hotel in advance or you may find the club rate doubles when you show up.

The Rambler Ranch guy has a lot of cool AMC cars & should reproduce the AMX & Javelin bodies.

When you drive down the highway and notice a UPS truck coming towards you, you'd better move (see photo).

The AMX/3 prototype is being built into a kit car in the next 18-24 months.

Bulltear.com has a solution for AMC timing cover and oil pressure problems.

Kennedy American & Javelin Reproductions have reproduction Trendsetter exhaust systems.

Waldron's Exhaust has authentic reproduction AMC exhaust systems in aluminized, T409 or T304 stainless steel with standard or stock appearing performance mufflers.

AM Wiring has reproduction AMC wiring harnesses.

Only 10% of the over 200 cars in attendance were trailered to the event.  We saw cars from Canada, California, New York, Florida, Texas and Washington.

Not ONE AMC car we saw had AAA or Allstate Motor club decals displayed!  AMC's won't let you down.

Many said the Kenosha 2007 show would have at least 500 cars and about 100 vendors!

We'd did know anyone had ever made a stretched Jeep limo before (1, 2, 3).

There is a vendor out there who has a permanent but expensive fix for broken door handles but we'll have to track them down.

AMC club members were all very nice, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable!
